The enigma producer calls Don Jazzy

Nothing is special; than to be famous, and somewhat being loveable by the fans. This is the love everyone has for one of the outstanding producer in Nigeria music industry. However, when we talk about style, or dexterity, Michael Collins Ajereh fondly known as Don Jazzy can’t be left out.

He is a Nigerian record producer, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He co-founded the now defunct record label Mo’ Hits Records in 2004. Following the closure of the aforementioned label, the cerebral producer established a new record label, Mavin Records on May, 8, 2012.

As a musician cum producer, he is also a social media connoisseur who uses his Instagram and twitter to advocate his philosophy. He is a philanthropist. Not only to his fans but also to those who are on the streets. Although, whenever, you hear, the baritone voice, of whom someone would know that, is Don Jazzy.

In the music industry, Don Jazzy, is not just a craft to his business; but an extraordinary persona whose impeccability is pious. Therefore, Don Jazzy is a fashionista whose style of dressing is unique among his contemporaries with his swag.

He is a musician whose virtuoso skill has turned him to an icon because he has continued to remain relevant since he started his career with Oliver Twist crooner, D’Banj. Therefore, he has controlled his own resources by signing artists like the songstress, Tiwa Savage to Mavin Records.

If we are talking about Nigerian contemporary music, the name of Don Jazzy can’t be easily forgotten because he has passed through the hurdle to stardom. He is an axiom musician whose style is unique and his memes on social media have even brought him to the people than his contemporary. Well, nobody feels quibble when Don Jazzy performs; or when he acts with his acerbic to people and his fans.

He is not a grandiloquent. His ebullience style is perfect. And he is not an artist who does paparazzi to satisfy the opulence of his class. Meanwhile, what has brought Don Jazzy this far his is consistency and perseverance towards his successful career in the industry; and however, he is a brand ambassador of numerous brands who have seen his tenacious ability as a role model to many up-and-coming musicians.

Everybody has an ancestry story; and that of Don Jazzy is an itinerary of greatness and extols. He grew up in a suburb in Lagos, that is a vestry of all sort of nefarious activities; but, he rose, with his passion and his talent, to play musical instrument in his church in Ajegunle area of Lagos. That was the place; Don Jazzy began to identify his calling even with his entrepreneur skill to identify his own niche. Perhaps, nothing seems to be a good start without any defiance, but; as for him, he focuses on his part; to become an iconoclast.

To hold the emporium tight, indeed that was what Don Jazzy did when he was at the University. In his primal days at the university, of whom he discovered many parts of his potential to be lucrative that why he has never regretted his decision to study Business Management from one of the tremulous citadel of learning in the country— Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo state.

In 2000, Ajereh fondly known as Don Jazzy visited London. His uncle had invited him to play the drums for the local church. In London, he gained employment at McDonald’s as a security guard. He continued his interest in music, associating with Solek, JJC, Kas, The 419 squad and D’Banj. It was in London where he learnt the skill of producing from Emeka Infiniti at O-Town record company.

Meanwhile, it was in the year, 2011, that he was credited in production. He also contributed immensely to the successful career of Wande Coal’s debut album, Mushin 2 MoHit. Perhaps, he began to take numerous credits with other vocal artists he had worked with before he started and he never became flippant to international artists he worked with in recognition of their music and personality. He produced for Jay-z and Kanye West on their collaboration single: Lift Off, also featuring the Rnb diva, Beyonce on the album: Watch the Throne which was released on 8 August 2011.

During the faceoff of his record, he once said: ‘’ I see Mavin Records being the power house of Music in Africa in the shortest possible time’’ truly, his dreams become reality when the label begins to sign deal with international artist like Tiwa Savage. Whereas, there was a time, he had a significant impact, by releasing an album featuring the artists signed to his label.

Michael Collins is a musician that believes in the enigma of his effluent, which has even brought him more accolades to his fame. He has remarkably written his name on the Hall of Fame of music in Africa because no expectation beyond what he has done to improve the quality of music. So, he creates the weigh, for which other, artists can flourish to his idea and vibes.

And nevertheless, Don Jazzy is not yet married. He has been single and this has caused a furore between his colleague and fans.
