This year’s London Carnival 2017 was a complete blast. The atmosphere was extraordinary. The energy, the buzz, the excitement and enthusiasm of the women involved. The women, WOW! the women. The costumes the dancing and the intensity of the crowd as the buses made their way around the designated route blasting out Caribbean/Hip-Hop and Street music from oversized speakers, the sound violently vibrating through, closely followed by dancers and revellers alike all made it consummate fun. And you can wager all enjoyed the great food, the booze and party vibe. But this party was unlike any . Yes, there was an undercurrent of nervousness and an awareness of a certain tension among the crowd. All to do with the drink, the vast number of young males and testosterone, and a sense of territorialism. This is our neighbourhood and you are only visitors. This was however not at all the overall feel of the Carnival. Overall the feeling was of love and welcoming, like we’re all here to party and have fun. And so did all.
Again, one of the best festival experiences ever had, topped off by a great all-night underground block party on the Sunday, playing old school Hip-Hop, Drum and Base, Reggae and more, it was really WOW!
With an expected two million or so attendees, Notting Hill Carnival is Europe’s biggest street festival and a vivid spectacle representing London’s multicultural past and present. It’s also a vital date in any party-lover’s diary.
