The Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, was agog weekend as telecommunications giant, Airtel, celebrated the 5th edition of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme tagged Airtel Touching Lives 5.
Airtel Touching Lives is an inspiring initiative that offers practical relief, succour, hope, opportunities and credible platforms to liberate and empower the underprivileged, disadvantaged and hard to reach persons in the society.
In his address at the event, the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, said the organisation is relentless in its drive to do more to empower the less privileged as well as encourage other corporate organisations to support the disadvantaged.
In his remarks, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, urged more corporate entities in Lagos State to follow the example of Airtel in empowering the needy, saying it will dissipate poverty.
In the same vein, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, commended the management of Airtel, adding that the Federal Government will continue to deliver on its promises.
Other dignitaries at the event were the Minister of Communications, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim; Vice President of Ghana, represented by Minister of State for Economy and Financial Planning, Anthony Akoto Osei; the Ooni of Ife, HRM Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Chief (Mrs.) Nike Akande, Prolific Writer, Chimamanda Adichie; HRH Eze Reginald Amadi, Mr. Ernest Obi, Engr. Joe Igbokwe and wife, Mr. Yomi Badejo-Okunsaya, Mr. Femi Adesina and wife, Mr. Tokunboh Modupe, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, Hajia Bola Shagaya and Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo and wife.
The event was anchored by popular comedian, Alibaba, while Timi Dakolo and his team, provided wholesome musical entertainment.
